UCSD APhA-ASP/CPhA

APhA-ASP/CPhA exists to lay the foundation for student pharmacists to advance the present and future state of pharmacy through patient outreach, advocacy, multidisciplinary enrichment, and professional development.
UCSD APhA-ASP/CPhA represents student pharmacists of all interests and holds a wide range of events to expose students to all opportunities available in pharmacy.

American Pharmacists Association (APhA)

Founded in 1852, APhA is the largest association of pharmacists in the United States, with more than 62,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians as members.

California Pharmacists Association (CPhA)

The California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) was founded in 1869 and is the largest state association representing pharmacists. CPhA represents pharmacists, technicians, and student pharmacists from all practice settings. These practice settings include community pharmacy (both independent owners and employees working in chain drug stores), hospitals & health-systems, and specialty practices such as compounding, managed care, and long term care. The CPhA mission is to advance the practice of pharmacy for the promotion of health.

CPhA is led by dedicated pharmacists that serve as members of the Board of Trustees who volunteer their time to advancing the profession. CPhA professional staff manage the day-to-day affairs of the organization and are available to assist members who have questions or concerns.

San Diego County Pharmacists Association (SDCPhA)

 

The San Diego County Pharmacists Association (SDCPhA) is a regional chapter of the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA). SDCPhA represents all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students in San Diego County.  

 

The mission of SDCPhA is to promote the profession of pharmacy in the San Diego community. The goals of this association are to: provide continuing education, be a political voice for pharmacy, promote the integrity and pride of the profession, advocate for patient care, and serve as a liaison to other healthcare organizations.

Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences strives to serve the needs of the citizens and communities of the state of California, the nation, and the global community at large. As part of a research-intensive university, the School has a three-part mission of education, research and service. The School:

 

  • Provides a premier professional education program leading to the Pharm.D. degree and postgraduate programs including residencies and fellowships.

  • Prepares students to be leaders in the profession of pharmacy and to provide them with the tools to practice effectively in a wide variety of currently existing and potential future roles in hospitals and medical centers, community pharmacy settings, academia, government and the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Provides graduate education programs in the pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences leading to the Ph.D. degree.

  • Promotes interdisciplinary education and cooperation among pharmacy, medicine and other healthcare disciplines.

  • Develops and maintains research initiatives in the basic, translational, clinical and computational sciences to discover new knowledge and new approaches to enhance health care.

  • Fosters collaborations with the UC San Diego Schools of Medicine and Engineering, the Supercomputer Center, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the UC San Diego general campus, La Jolla area research institutes, biotechnology firms, and health systems to enhance and expand research opportunities.

  • A center of excellence in translational clinical pharmacy with emphasis on collaborative care and innovative practice models.

  • Serves as a resource center for dissemination of drug, toxicology and pharmacogenomic information for health professionals and the public.
